History

  • 1963
  • The Ministry for Energy and Natural Resources (MENR) was established with the approval of The President’s Office, dated 2512.1963, and numbered 4-400, bases on the authority provided by the Legislation numbered 4951.
  • 1983
  • The Ministerial Organisation Legislation was enacted through the Statutory Decree dated 13.02.1983, and numbered 186.
  • 1985
  • It took its final form with the legislation passed on 01.03.1985, numbered 3154. However, in order for the duties to be able to be carried out more effectively, certain articles of the Legislation numbered 3154 were amended within the framework of the Statutory Decree numbered 367 on “the Establishment of Departments Related to the European Union in Ministries and Connected Organisations”. The European Union Coordination Office Directorate was established as a principal service department, on 28 December 1989, within the scope of the said amendments.
  • 1993
  • On 12.08.1993, the Legislation numbered 3154 was amended once again by the Statutory Decree numbered 505, and the two Office Directorates within the principal departments were changed to General Directorates, and the Foreign Affairs Office Directorate was established.
  • 2001
  • The Transit Petrol Pipelines Office Directorate was established as a Principal Service Department with the Legislation dated 27.06.2001, and numbered 4693, which amended the Legislation on the Organisation and Duties of the Ministry for Energy and Natural Resources, numbered 3154.
  • 2005
  • Strategy Development Units (SDU) were established in all public authorities with the “Public Sector Financial Management Legislation and the Legislation on the Amendment of Certain Legislations and Statutory Decrees”, numbered 5436, which came into effect in 2005,and within this framework the Strategy Development Directorate was established in place of the APK Commission Directorate within our Ministry, in 2006. According to the Legislation numbered 3154, the establishment objectives of the Ministry for Energy and Natural Resources are to determine the relevant targets and policies in line with the defence, security and welfare of the country, and the development and strengthening of the economy; and to ensure the research, development, production and consumption of energy and natural sources in accordance with these targets and policies
